ALEXANDER WESTIN (ALEC)

A professional athlete, Westin was a football player in Avalon until his penchant for enjoying the good life got him in a bit of trouble. Now hes trying to figure out why people keep telling him faeries are real.

BRIDGET WRIGHT

Member of the Explorers Society and professional translator. Bridget speaks Avaloni, Castillian, Montaigne, Vodacce, Ussuran, Vendel, Thean, Eisen, 2 dialects of Cathayan, 3 dialects of Crescent, and is familiar with dozens of dead languages. Previously romantically involved with Neil Hall.

CAROLINA JASPERS

A mysterious woman apparently possessing of sorcerous powers, guiding Alec Westin through something she calls tests.

GRAHAM MACGOWAN

The elder of the two MacGowan brothers, Graham has just finished with his secondary schooling and will be headed to a university this fall. He is the scion of the MacEarchen line, a clan of Highlanders well known for hunting monsters, demons, and the fae. Current holder of the Fearchara, a holy MacEarchen sword.

GWENDOLYN BROOKS

Nearly legendary agent of TSB, the only spy in recent memory to be active for ten years consecutively. Instrumental in foiling a number of threats to the free world during her career.

LUGH MACGOWAN

The younger of the two MacGowan brothers, Lughs winding down his secondary education and intends to follow in his brothers footsteps, but for a different career. Kind of depressed and doesnt know why.

NEIL HALL

A scholar in the purest sense of the word, we dont have the space here to describe the vast qualifications Neil has to teach virtually any subject, from nuclear physics to philosophy. Unfortunately, hes also an overbearing git and an Explorer. Romantically involved with Bridget Wright at one point.

RORY CATHAL

Former but now reinstated member of the Explorers Society, Rory distinguished himself in both the Society and the Royal Air Force. His discharge from the society and his divorce havent made things easy to deal with, but the Ruota has offered him a second chance if he can find something they seek.

CASTILLE

ARGENTO RIVERA

Historian and general expert on Theah and Castille, recently a member of Artidenot. Coming along with Gitana and Tulio Zepeda on their expedition to find the Chalice of Lethe.

GITANA ZEPEDA

The eldest child of Don Domingo Zepeda, one of the Castillian dons of Artidenot. Gitana is a ruthless fixer, known in Castilles underworld for her ability to take care of a situation without a speck of evidence left behind. Sometimes called 'the Custodian' for her studiousness in cleaning up after herself.

JOSÉ MONTOYA

A former member of Artidenot, José retired from active service for a slightly less dangerous line of work, as a bodyguard for the Explorers' Society. Since he stopped doing that six years ago, he's begun his own business. Called 'Titan' for his extreme height.

TULIO ZEPEDA

The twin brother of Gitana Zepeda and younger by than her by a few minutes, Tulio works as an enforcer for the Zepeda family of Artidenot. Sometimes called 'the Tiger' for his ferocity in combat.

EISEN

ERNST KRAMER

Ernst is a former soldier in Eisens army, alongside the fifteen men underneath him, serve as a mercenary unit for anyone looking for a mercenary unit. Their training is the best that the Eisen special forces had to offer.

REBEKA ZEIT

The captain of a cargo ship that sails for a small Eisen shipping company owned by her husband, Jakob Zeit. Trying to quit smoking. Probably having a nervous breakdown.

ERICA BAINE

Former member of the Violet Guard, an august military unit from a pacifistic nation, Erica was ejected from the Guard for excessive brutality. Working here and there for whatever jobs her razor-sharp military skills could find her. Recent landed the captaincy of the Blackhawks of the Forbidden Sea, a position shes not terribly sure she wants.

JACQUELINE GOSSE

Daughter of Raymond Gosse-Redworth, former ambassador of Gossia to Montaigne. Professional swordcuff, a bodyguard meant to be unobtrusive. Just realized how much she loves Royce La Due.

MONTAIGNE

CATRICE ARRENT-LOPEZ

A low-level officer in Montaignes Foreign Legion, Catrice was sent to the struggling nation of Kardobbia as part of relief efforts to help the fledgingly government there to get off the ground.

ELIZA DELANCEY

Previously Elise DeLancie, Eliza changed her name shortly after the Explorers Society offered her a job. Well known for her devastating good looks and ability to drag mens emotions around in circles, Eliza served her team well until its dissolution six years ago. Since then, shes been getting into acting. Then the Ruota called her.

LUCENT AVION

A ruthless bounty hunter and former agent of TSB, Avion is renowned in underworld for his skills when it comes to hunting down people who try to disappear. Avions reputation and record are impeccable; he can virtually name his price for a job.

ROYCE LA DUE

A young man studying graphic design at a university in Montaigne. A genetically engineered Porté master created by the Reiseker Corporation using DNA taken from known Porté sorcerors. Just realized how much he loves Jacqueline Gosse.

The daughter of Tadicia Corelli, and one of the most formidable masters of Sorté in the last century, Donata's skill with magic and her natural level-headedness and organizational skills earmarked her for success early in life, and she stands to rise to the position of Centrara of the Ruota if she can ever get back to Vodacce.

PIETRO TRILLIANI

Arguably the most infamous man alive today, Pietro Trilliani is the very public head of Artidenot, the largest criminal organization on the planet. A charismatic and highly practical man, Trilliani has run his organization well since taking the helm from his uncle Alazar ten years ago. He is about to come under fire from within his own ranks, though.

TADICIA CORELLI

Mother of Donata Corelli and a highly respected member of the Ruota, Tadicia Corelli has done everything she can to carve a succesful path for her daughter, Donata. Donata's recent disappearence has put a decent kink in her plans.

VIRGIL BASTO

A well-travelled man employed by the Blackhawks for his many useful skills, it was Basto that endorsed Erica Baine's entry into the organization.
